As my journey with photography continues to unfold I feel more and more connected to the sessions that I have. My style is developed and I know where I want to go with it all. This summer has been insanely busy. I've spent most of it in Eastern Washington photographing families, weddings, and spending time with family and friends. Since I grew up here it is comfortable to come back and do what I do. However, something recently clicked with me as I finished my last wedding alongside Nicole Conner. I realized that I'm ready to really dive into this passion, 110%. The passion has always been there, but I've been somewhat of a shadow learning and growing under the wing of Nicole and other photographers I admire.
My baby wings are off and I'm ready to fly.
I don't even think that makes sense, but you get the idea. Nicole has been a godsend to me with my photography journey and I'm not saying we won't work together again, but the truth is that I don't live in Eastern Washington anymore. I'm ready to really push and focus my energy on the west side of the mountains. I'll still come back here and do what I love BUT it's time to really make Southwest Washington my home base, not Wenatchee. I'm ready to start booking more of my own clients for weddings and putting my heart and soul into my love for working with couples to capture their special day.
My trip to Wenatchee was wrapped up with the beautiful and talented Bella Dahl. I found a spot just behind my parents house that honestly took my breath away. While I hate the wildfires that happen on this side of the mountains every year, this particular evening had somewhat of a smokey haze that created the most beautiful sky off in the distance.
Bella showed up dressed to impress and didn't need any posing help from me!
She is a dream in front of the camera and I feel blessed that our paths crossed and that we were able to spend this time together! I will definitely be shooting with Bella again in the future. It was my goal with this session to open the doors to senior photography as I really love working one on one with my clients. Senior sessions are a time for you to get dressed up, feel beautiful, and have fun with me behind the camera! It's my goal to create an experience that will last forever and that you will never forget. This session with Bella broke me out of my shell to try a new look that I'm going for with my photography which is maintaining the light and airy but also adding that editorial high contrast feel and look to my images. It's been a work in progress but I'm honing in on exactly what I want going forward with my style and that is extremely exciting.
are you ready to see the incredible bella under a smokey sunset in wenatchee, washington?
Be sure to scroll all the way through because at the bottom of this post I have an exciting announcement to make!
outfit change! Oh, bella! When I saw this number I about fainted.
If you are out on a senior session here is something you should know...we leave Mom and Dad behind! Your session is a chance to let loose behind the camera, feel beautiful, and let your guard down to allow me to capture images that you will cherish for the rest of your life. Graduating is a huge milestone and it's my goal to make it a chapter of your life that you will never forget.
That's a wrap! I hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon! To book or get in touch, please click right here. Also, I told you that I had a little announcement to make! Alright, friends. I'm currently in the throws of launching my first ever e course! Yep! So so so exciting. I am putting together a course that will equip you with everything you need to start a photography business (and thrive). I have learned a lot on my own personal journey and want to share with you everything I've learned up to this point in my career. I believe that we all start somewhere and that there is room for all of us in this field, but I also believe that there are things you should do and should not do when you're thinking about starting your own business (take it from personal experience!) I want to equip you with all the tools and resources you need to grow your business and turn that dream of working for yourself and doing full time photography a reality. Leaving my career was a hard decision to make, but I've never looked back and I've never been happier. If you want to stay in the loop and be the first to hear about when the course is ready (because I'll be doing a soft launch before the big launch at a discount to my newsletter subscribers) you can join by signing up below.
Going forward I'm also going to start including what I shot with and what my camera settings were so that you can learn and grow with me!
Gear for this session: Canon Mark iii with Sigma Art 35mm
Camera Settings: Manual Mode | RAW | ISO 200 | F 1.8 | 1/1250
Get out there and keep shooting!
Also, if you haven't seen my posts all over Instagram recently, you should know that I started my very own private Facebook group for fellow dream chasers to learn and grow with one another! Come on over to join the already AMAZING community of creative entrepreneurs! I feel incredibly blessed to be leading such an incredible group of individuals.
