Emma Rose Company LLC Top 10 Favorite Pictures from 2016 | Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia Wedding and Portrait Photographer

It's been an amazing trip around the sun and since my photo sessions are wrapped up for the year (except one wedding right before the new year!)  I figured it was a good time to share with you my top 10 favorite images I took this year!  This is hard because there are SO MANY more than 10 that I want to share, but I had to narrow it down and cannot wait to share them all with you here today!  It's been an incredible year and I've grown personally and professionally in ways I never thought possible.

It all started when I picked up a camera for the first time.

And then I never looked back.  At that time I picked up a camera in hopes of taking better pictures of my daughter.  Now I find myself traveling regularly to document life and love stories all over the state.  It's my dream to start traveling the world to capture these memories but for now I'm enjoying every moment of the ride and where it has taken me to this point.  In just one year my style has evolved and grown into something I'm so proud of and cannot wait to see where it all goes from here.

2017 is going to be a lot of fun!

The couples already on my calendar are nothing short of incredible and I cannot wait to continue this journey as a wedding and portrait photographer!  This post is dedicated to my clients and how grateful I am for their love and support in trusting me to document such special moments in their lives.  As much as I want to share some of the awesome shots I've captured of Riley, I think I'll save that for it's own special post because there are A LOT.   So to those of you who made it to this post, thank you for making my time with you so amazing.  To anyone saying, "Why am I not in here!?"  I want you to know that every session this year has been a true DREAM for me.  There has not been one that did not completely make me fall in love all over again with why I do what I do.  Thank you to everyone who continues to love and support me!  Alright, let's get to my 2016 top ten favorite pictures!

Number 1.

Kaysee & Patrick - I shot this wedding alongside Nicole Conner as her second photographer and this shot is my favorite because not only was this wedding my first ever wedding, it was spent with one of the most beautiful and down to earth couples I've ever met.  I feel grateful to have been included in such an amazing experience.

Number 2.

Carly and Austin Downtown Seattle Courthouse Elopement

Carly & Austin - This picture is a blend of sweet and sassy.  Carly found me online through Instagram and asked me if I would join them up in Seattle to document their Seattle courthouse elopement!  They stood with both their parents making a commitment of forever and it was absolutely incredible.  This wedding changed the game for me and helped me realize that this is exactly where I'm meant to be.  Carly and Austin are absolutely beautiful inside and out and this picture makes me feel so many emotions and that's what I love about it!  For the full session, click here.

Number 3.

Jessica and Luke Puerto Vallarta Mexico Wedding | Las Caletas

Just a few weeks ago, my Husband and I flew down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to celebrate one of our best friends tie the knot!  They said "I do" at Las Caletas.  I was not Jessica's wedding photographer, but I opted to bring my camera along to capture some of those behind the scenes shots they may not have otherwise gotten from their hired photographers.  It was truly paradise being in Mexico with my closest friends in the world and watching one of them become Mrs.  This is a week I'll never forget!

Number 4.

Bella - So I'm basically obsessed with every single picture from my session with Bella, but this one just always jumps out at me as my favorite from our time together!  It was a perfect sunlit evening in Eastern Washington where Bella came out to help me prepare for branching out to start photographing Seniors.  Bella made my job so easy and after the fact told me she had a lot of fun with my approach and style.  I will be working with Bella on other projects and cannot wait to get her in front of my camera again in the New Year! Number 5.

This session speaks to me because Keely was my first ever senior sessions in Seattle!  I opted to take her to Magnuson Park which ended up being some of my best work yet!  We started in the community garden (pictured here) and it was just magical.  We got sprinkles of rain and then full bursts of sun.  The garden also had this amazing arbor which served nicely for portraits!  I not only loved meeting Keely and her fun personality, but her style was just perfect for the location we chose!  This will always be one of my favorite portrait sessions.

Number 6.

Something about this picture just makes me stop and stare.  There is so much emotion wrapped up in this single photograph.  A mother to be, a brother anticipating the arrival of his new baby brother, the connection between a mother and her child...the list goes on.  This picture is also special to me because of the location on our ranch!  The light for our session was purely magical and I could not have asked for a better experience all together with the Moncy family!  For the full session, click here.

Number 7.

Same as above, there was something truly magical about capturing this special moment between a mother and her firstborn.  As a new-ish mama myself, it is beyond special for me to document these precious memories and freeze them in time for my clients to cherish forever.  The Yocom family's session was definitely one of my absolute favorite portrait sessions I've ever had!  I wish I could share more from this session in this post, but if you want to see the whole thing, click here!

Number 8.

I've known Orin for a long time and had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful wife while attending one of our good friends' wedding.  She heard I was a photographer so I gave her my information to look me up.  She called me a few days later to get on the calendar.  They wanted a wheat session out where they live in Waterville, Washington.  I was definitely on board for this!  I got out there early to scope out the location and I can't really explain what happened to me, but something just hit me as I was all alone in the middle of no where listening to the wind blow through the wheat fields.  It was one of those "ah ha" moments we have in life that told me I was where I was meant to be, taking pictures.  You can call it God, you can call it faith, you can call it anything, but it meant something to me.  It was at this moment, during this session, that I made a promise to myself that I was going to do this and I was going to do it well.  So thank you, Tollackson family for not only an epic photo session, but for helping me chase my dreams.

Number 9.

This image means something special to me this year because it was my first Seattle wedding!  The wedding took place at The Seattle Tennis Club and it was a day I'll always remember fondly with Liz and Mike!  They were surrounded by their family and friends to celebrate their commitment to one another and merging their families together for the next phase of their lives together.  I especially loved how Liz was glowing all day long and Mike's blue suede shoes were the perfect addition to this gorgeous white wedding.

Number 10.

Last, but not least in the slightest is miss Katie!  Katie said yes to helping me with a styled shoot to help me dive into the wedding world all together.  This dress was $30 on Amazon and the florals were put together by Nancy at the Elixir Cafe and Floral Design here in South Bend, WA.  I'll be starting on Nancy's website very soon so stay tuned for that because she is a talented and wonderful human being.  I'm so grateful for her friendship since moving to this area!  Anyway, I wanted to put something together so that I would be able to put something in my portfolio that was wedding themed to show potential clients since I had not yet dove into the wedding world of photography.  This was definitely a small scale styled shoot, but it was perfect nonetheless!  Thank you Katie and Nancy for helping me with this styled shoot because it was the beginning of everything for me this year!

I hope you enjoyed my top 10 favorite pictures from 2016 here at Emma Rose Company LLC, friends!

I look forward to 2017 and all the pictures I have yet to take!
